Chaos (for real)

When we came home today (we were out shopping) we were faced with
chaos in our study- the bookshelf had fallen down. The bookshelf
covered an entire wall, and was one of those kinds which hangs on the
wall. Apparently the screws (or more probably the plugs) just gave

On this bookshelf was all of my university books (ten years worth),
all computer components, two laptops, LPs, backup CDs, photographs,
and tonnes of small boxes with screws, nails, etc. The shelves
themselves weigh quite a lot as well.

I shudder to think of what would have happened if we were home and
one of our kids were below it when it happened- The entire floor was
covered with some 40cm of sharp, heavy junk. Annas place by her desk
was covered as well as mine. Very scary.

Luckily, we weren't home. And to add to the luck, both laptops
still work (yes, another reason to cherish thinkpads), the LPs arent
damaged. The only things which actually broke were some old CDs, with
ancient and completely useless software.

So for the last three hours I've been digging my way down the pile
of stuff. Lots of junk, but lots of nostalgia as well- I found lots of
old roleplaying notes, which I had forgotten I had.
