"My God, its full of stars"

Somehow the classic quote from Arthur C. Clarke's "2001: A
Space Odyssey" fits so well with my experiences of
parenthood. In the final phases of the book, Dr. Dave Bowman,
who all alone in space near the rings of saturn says this
famous quote in wonder at observing a extra-terrestrial
monument, called the Monolith.

Parenthood is for me full of surprises, mostly pleasant,
some not quite so pleasant. The last month has been filled
with developments, wonderful ones; so many in fact that
recalling them all for entry into this blog is quite
impossible. And the accomplishments of my kids together with
fun events all blur into a wildly colourful mosaic. The
problem with mosaics is that you don't remember any individual

Funny how all these important individual events blend into
the background so quickly. If this is what it's like after
just a month, what is it going to be like in a year? Or ten?
What will I remember of my children's early childhood in my
Autumn years?

I better start taking more notes...
