Sick Christian RTS
--
I'm always on the prowl for some new game which I can spend
some of my few spare hours a week on. Today I was surfing
around, and my clicks led me to what seemed to be something
interesting. The game, called 'LEFT BEHIND: Eternal Forces',
seemed at first quite exciting- the lure of a good RTS, with
religious elements and a dark future setting. Sounds good,
right?
Wrong. From the FAQ:
Are guns used by Christians against non-Christians? Why or
why not?
The storyline in the game begins just after the Rapture has occurred
when all adult Christians, all infants, and many children were
instantly swept home to Heaven and off the Earth by God. The remaining
population those who were left behind are then poised to make a
decision at some point. They cannot remain neutral. Their choice is to
either join the AntiChrist which is an imposturous one world
government seeking peace for all of mankind, or they may join the
Tribulation Force which seeks to expose the truth and defend
themselves against the forces of the AntiChrist.
I'm like WTF? So agnostics, atheists, muslims, jews, and all
the other faiths are on one side with the evil United Nations,
and on the other... the good guys- the Tribulation Force,
'which seeks to expose the truth and defend themselves against
the forces of the AntiChrist'???? And I'm guessing that the
Tribulation Force doesn't convince their evil opponents
through a careful two-way dialogue.
This is plain disgusting. And the target group? Teenagers,
the group most susceptable to propaganda. This, together with
Americas Army (another game I can't stand the thought
of) really makes me feel rather ill.
